Updated: Mar 21, 2022

A combo of science experiments, drama, art & craft and games for children and families. Join us every Saturday until Easter between 3-5pm.

We have prepared 6 creative Lenten workshops for children and families using drama, science experiments, art & craft and games to reflect on themes of trust, forgiveness, prayer and the new life.

The sessions will take place every Saturday, 3-5pm in Sacred Heart Church on March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, April 2nd and April 9th. On Saturday, April 2nd at 2.30 pm we have secured 20 places for a 1-hour long ice-skating session for children and families in Streatham Ice Rink. Because of the group booking, we shall enjoy a free skate hire!

WEEK ONE

What is Lent? Why do we do Lent? In our 1st creative workshop last Saturday we explored the meaning of Lent. Just like an ocean, our lives are full of good and wonderful things...but what happens when they get polluted by wrong choices?

The ocean is full of wonderful forms of life and amazing formations, our life is full of wonderful and important things: life-giving relationships and friendships, love, warmth, peace, safety… but what happens when ‘our ocean’ gets polluted by wrong choices.

First, we created our own ocean scene with stones, seashells and life-supporting greenery all immersed in clear water.

Next, we added God’s blessings, gifts and talents in form of sweets and sprinkled it with glitter of joy.

After that, we polluted our ocean with plastic litter and some soil – representing our wrong choices and failures.

Can we restore our oceans only by our human effort? We tried but our oceans just did not look the same….

In circle time: We each brought few special things with us: something that we need; something that we have only for the sake of having and something that we use, but do not need. In circle time we shared why we chose these items. We agreed that Lent is a good time to take stock of what we have and what we need. What do we need to put aside and what do we need to take up in order to have a closer relationship with God?
